The History of
Red House Farm

Red House Farm is a Grade II listed farmhouse with a history that dates back to the early 18th century. This historic property reflects the architectural styles of both the early and late Georgian periods. The farmhouse consists of two distinct wings: the original South Wing, built from limestone rubble, and a North Wing added in the 19th century, which features red brickwork in a traditional Flemish bond. Together, these wings form a striking two-story gabled structure with three-window facades that exemplify the period’s aesthetics.

Restoration and Preservation Efforts
Over the centuries, Red House Farm has undergone thoughtful modifications to preserve its character and improve its functionality. A stone outshut was added in the late 18th century, while the 20th century saw updates like brick chimney stacks and casement windows. In the 1990s, a seamless extension joined an outbuilding to the main farmhouse, adapting it for modern use.

Our Commitment to Heritage

Recent restoration efforts have focused on preserving Red House Farm’s historical integrity. We’ve replaced windows with timber casements that honor the original style, restored traditional plasterwork in the South Wing, and refinished the upper floorboards. By blending old and new, we’re ensuring that Red House Farm remains a cherished feature of the local landscape, celebrating its past while embracing the future.
